Kennedy’s sausages are Ewood Foods own range of award winning, premium quality, fresh sausages made in our own FSA approved in-house butchery. We have only been making the sausage since 2015 but the brand is now synonymous with “quality” and we have already won numerous national and local awards including being a finalist in Britain’s Best Sausage in 2022 & 2023.
Distributed and sold through Ewood Foods, year-on-year sales growth has soared to the point where we are now one of the North West’s leading fresh sausage suppliers, with Kennedy’s sausages enjoyed throughout Lancashire and the surrounding area, supplying a diverse range of customers including Sandwich Shops, Cafes, Cash n Carry, Steakhouses, Pubs, Restaurants, Hotels, Schools, NHS and the Care Industry.
Our sausages are made using only the finest meat cuts with just the right amount of fat added, to give them real succulence and a deliciously tasty flavour. Pork is carefully minced, then blended with our own specially-developed seasonings and filled into natural or collagen casings. They are then rested in the traditional way before packaging, producing our award-winning, mouth-watering, quality butchers sausages.
Perfect on Sandwich, Breakfast or within a main meal, each box consists of sausage uniform in size at an average of (+/-5g) with a guaranteed minimum amount of sausage per pack* for easy portion control and ease of costing. Sausages are then packed as specified, in our own printed cardboard box, poly bag or gas flush pack to help prevent damage in transport as well as making easier to store.

Three Points to Consider When Comparing Fresh Sausages
1. What is the average weight of the sausage “after”cooking?
We put a lot of effort into our Kennedy’s award winning sausage to make sure that our sausage are consistent in size and weight
It is not uncommon that sometimes other sausages may in their uncooked form look slightly more plump due to a higher fat content. Kennedy’s use only the right amount of fat needed so shrinkage is often less than most other sausages, so if you are comparing Kennedy’s against your current offering then could we please kindly suggest that for a true comparison you compare the cooked weight of both sausages after cooking so as to give you a proper yield and make sure you’re not just paying for fat.
2. What is the average amount of sausage in a box/bag*?
The amount of sausages in the bag can affect costs greatly. With Kennedy’s sausage we work to a set number of sausage per pack* so you know exactly how many you are getting. With Kennedy’s if you are getting extra sausages then this can equate to potentially extra sandwiches you can make, which in turn makes a significant difference to the profit you generate from each pack.
Another advantage with Kennedy’s sausage is that they are packed in outer 2.5kg box (when specified) so as to give further protection against busts and damages and also to improve ease of storage.
3. Working out costings
Many companies sell there sausage by catch weight (price per kg x actual weight of bag). With catch weight each bag of sausage will weigh and cost slightly different and consequently the amount of sausages per pack can vary so it can make the costing per sausage more difficult. Kennedy’s do not sell by catch weight, each pack is sold as “so many sausage per pack” regardless of actual weight so your costings per sausage are simple to work out.
